Comparisons

8 weeks:

9.5 weeks:

so, i don't think they look that much alike... she is definately more chunky, and her hair is not near as red as his was at this point. and, we still don't know what color her eyes are although they have looked blue more lately, not that you can tell in either of these shots.

Happy Father's Day!

so the day started with a full night of sleep - that's right, both kids, slept all night! nathan slept in, and then got up and made blueberry pancakes - don't worry, he made them because they are better when he makes them, and caleb supervised. we then put carly down for a nap and headed to the front yard. caleb and i drew cars with the chalk while dad sat in a chair in the shade and drank his coffee. then we got out the fun sprinkler. caleb was a little afraid of this thing last year, oh, the nerves we grow in just a few months. we started in pajams, and then the shirt came off....

we took a lunch break (cracker barrell take out) and a nap break and then hit the sprinkler again. this time, nathan got in on the action - he's so graceful :) look... twins! i've got some video, but due to some software stupidity that i don't know how to fix, we can't get it to the blog, so here's lots of pictures for you to enjoy....

after the fun, nathan grilled himself a big father's day steak!
and to nathan - you are the best dad in the world. caleb and carly are lucky to have you for their dad. i'm glad i have you as the father of my children, which yes, makes you my babies' daddy!

she sleeps again, and has pretty toes

so thursday, she was awake all day long. she fell asleep a couple of time in the car, but for no more than 20 minutes at a time, and barely napped all day long (except in her swing during caleb's nap because i needed to nap too). however, she did sleep all night that night... two nights in a row (which she hasn't done in weeks). it's saturday and she's not napping again. i'm hopeful that this means she will sleep all night again. she should be tired... she should still be sleeping most of the day AND most of the night, but i'll take the nights. at least i can sleep when she does at night, caleb won't let me nap much during the day.

and i finally got her toe nails painted. you wouldn't think it would be that hard to paint a baby's toenails. just becasue she's not mobile, doesn't mean she doesn't move, a lot. it took 2o minutes to get 10 little dabs of paint on, 20 minutes! and if painting them wasn't hard enough... i had to get a picture of them, again, like 20 more minutes... but aren't those pretty toes!

and some other fun stuff.... caleb got up this morning, found a hat (and one for me), peed in the potty, got to wear a pair of his new dinosaur underwear, and tore up some watermelon for breakfast. a 2.5 yr old eating watermelon is incredibly messy as you can imagine, but it's fun for him, and nothing a few - quite a few - napkins and wet wipes won't clean up... a little stain remover too!
and then the other night, we couldn't get her to wake up for her bath. she was grinning and carrying on, but wouldn't wake up. it was pretty funny, and cute too!

Carly's 2 month stats

we went to the doctor monday for carly's 2 month check-up. she did great and the doctor was happy with her. here's her new stats:

height: 22.5 in - 54% - (1month: 21in - 47%) she's falling behind - i guess that's my fault

weight: 12.5 lbs - 85% - (1month: 9lbs 3oz - 68%)

head: 38.2 in - 32% - (1month: 36.8 - 44%)

my last month's stat comment was that she was very average, well now, she's getting heavy! which is okay, because the fat rolls on her legs are totally cute at this point.
we did take the camera to the visit, but we also took caleb. and we barely made it on time, so needless to say, no doctor office visit pics, but here are a couple of her sleeping over the past week or so. the second one, we were playing - she was cooing and smiling, then i looked up, and she was out!

baby you-cus

so yesterday, my friend gina came over with her new baby, lucas, or as caleb says: baby you-cus. if you remember from a pregnant belly blog, gina is a childhood friend, our dad's were bff in high school and gina and i were born 4 weeks apart, so we were destined to be bff ourselves. now we have our own babies that are 2 weeks apart - kinda cool, huh? carly is 8 weeks here and lucas is 6 weeks. i just realized that it looks like carly is punching lucas, that, or she's posing as super carly. dont worry just a few moments later, she was trying to hold his hand as he was crying. not that she knew hat she was doing, but it sure looked pretty sweet. and then of course, caleb got in on the picture action, so here he is with the babies. he got confused once and calle lucas, baby juliet - its easy to get confused i guess. we miss baby j.
and i threw in this one of caleb and nana that i forgot to put up this weekend. this is just before they left to go to jace's baseball game. he likes going to se jace play, plus nana usually feeds him mcdonalds after - and he loves chicken nuggets, and nana too!

Grandaddy's birthday

we went to a birthday party for my grandaddy - great grandaddy to caleb. btw...great grandaddy has a whistle at his house that souns like a train - he's in! i got this great shot of caleb and grandaddy anticipating the cake - it was intense! ... and exciting. i always seem to get a picture of caleb sitting over the birthday cake, at everyone's party.

they both got some anticipated cake and grandaddy got to hold carly, this was their first meeting - he was quite impressed.

nana got to give carly her bottle and aunt natalie got a turn to hold her. in between the feeding and natalie, she put on a show of smiles and coos. she started out with a cute little denim, overall dress, but that came off - it was a little warm out on the screened in porch. you can see the top of it in the carly & grandaddy pic.
caleb did a good job peeing in the potty while we were there too. we took his toilet seat cover (it sits on the regular potty but the hole is smaller so he doesn't fall in) and his m&ms - and he went, only when told to, but that is still progress, slow, but progress.

carly eating

after dinner tonight, nathan went to wake up carly so she could eat. here's the conversation that he and caleb had on the way....
caleb: where you going daddy?
nathan: to wake up carly.
caleb: why?
nathan: so she can eat.
caleb: she gonna eat your booby daddy?

smiles and such...

i got some time to play with carly one-on-one while calb was at mother's day out. i was getting lots of smiles out of her, so i grabbed the camera and she kept on being cute for me. check out her hands in the last one.

and then i put her on the boppy, look at her hold that head up

some other fun stuff... caleb was playing with my camera (it's fun to take the picture and then see it in the screen later) and he took this picture of himself. he still likes to hold her, until she fusses - he says she kicks him. i tried to explain that she doesn't know what she's doing and that when babies fuss they flail their arms and legs and they aren't hiting and kicking -not sure he buys that. either way, i take her from him when she starts fussing.

and my two kids, sprawled out together. hands up! please excuse caleb's disposable underoos - potty training is easier with one less layer. it's just one less step, many times a day.

caleb vs. carly

here's a fun comparison. i got on our desktop this weekend and got some face shots of caleb so we could compare them with carly and see how much they look alike: caleb at 5.5 weeks and carly at 4 weeks

and then here they are: caleb at 7.5 weeks and carly at 6.5 weeks. total resemblence, but not too much alike

some pics

so here's caleb holding carly. i couldn't decide which one i liked best - anyway, the pics that are good of one of them, are not so much of the other...

and then, when i was making sausage cups for nathan to take to poker night, caleb wanted some onions (scallions) that i was chopping. he likes to eat whatever i am cutting up. he eats raw onions often, and the other night was munching on some raw green bell peppers - ewe! oh, and holding carly again a day or so later. he still likes to hold her, but not as long now, especially since she is so squirmy now.
