baby weight

so as some of you know, when i went to my neurologist for a check up a couple weeks ago, she walked in and said: "oh, you haven't lost all your baby weight yet, huh?" - i go to girl doctors so i don't have to put up with crap that usually comes from men - who are mosty insensitive. she did go on to explain that it should take many months to lose the weight, blah, blah, blah - too late, damage done!
well, this week, i went to by obgyn for my 6wk check-up. i saw the nurse practitioner (which is fine, i love her too). when she walked in she said: "yay, you're skinny again" - which is not completely true, but i have lost everthing i gained during the carly pregnancy and a few more. i still have quite a few to go to be "pre-caleb" but anyway, i like leslie stone better -she's the practitioner, and her name is leslie! plus i totally prefer to be called skinny over fatty.

so, we got nathan all weekend long, all 4 days! he got up with caleb saturday morning and they made some chocolate chip panckaes. they were delicious, just look at caleb's face - he downed three of them. and then here's how i found the three of them when i got out of the shower. -my little family!

we went to nana's (my mom) last night for memorial day steaks! delicious! -i'm okay with my blog post revolving around food, btw. my brother and his kids were there also. here's gavin climbing into a chair, and carly taking her bottle. my mom got some fun toys for the boys, but there are no pics of them playing with those, because caleb and jace had too much fun playing with big ed... on his tracter, any 2.5 or 4.5yr old's dream! jace actually got to steer and shift the gears, caleb did a little but got a lot of help from edward. wahoo! this was lots of fun to watch too.

here we are, off for our first stroll in the double bob! it was great to get out of the house - even though we haven't made it six weeks - i had to get out. btw... i LOVE my stroller

how cute are these... itty bitty hair bows. and, my toxic free nail polish came in (because carly needs pretty toes too) so now she can be super cute this summer!

and here she is taking a nap, with both hands in the air. i like her!

he's "officially" the man

so, last night after the unanimous decision by the anderson county commissioners to approve the mayer's decision, nathan officially became the director of emergency services in anderson county!

it has been interesting for us to look back and see how so many parts of our lives have prepared us for this, and how so many things were a part of the sequence of events that have lead to this. it's so easy to see God's plan at this point, on this side of things, to see how things we thought were failures or setbacks, were actually preparation for this or would have interfered with the plan. God has given nathan incredible favor within his profession, as well as increible gifts and talents that enable him to perform his job well.

we are extremely blessed to have the people and support in our lives that we have, and can now be even more thankful for the parts on this road that have been hard. in just the past few weeks we have discovered just how much we are loved and supported - thank you so much for your prayers and support. when we met 9 years ago, we could never imagine that this would be our life. while it isn't perfect, with a new baby and a new job, we are excited to start this part of our lives, and are glad to have so many of you along for the ride. we would not be in the state we are in without all of you!

he's the man

so we found out last night, and it was made public at noon today....
nathan will be the new director of acems starting next friday! we spent the early evening yesterday waiting for a phone call. he was told after his interview that he would probably hear something that evening. i spent the afternoon eating - for you grey's fans, like lexi did when the boys were fighting - the good news is that it was only for a few hours and not days! anyhow, this has been his dream and he has worked hard in every position he has been in to prepare himself for this. i am so proud of him! everything he touches turns to gold so i have no doubt that the service will continue to flourish under him. way to go nathan!!!!

here he is in his fancy interview clothes - too bad i'm not a good photographer and you can't really see how good he looked here - anyhow.... that's my man!

thank you all for your prayers and support. even if he had not got the position, it was truly a blessing just to know how many of you love and support us. thank you

carly & juliet.... bff!

since we now have 2 kids, niether of which can go into the labor and delivery area of a hospital, we had to wait until tara and juliet got home to meet juliet. so, we made our way over yesterday evening after they got home. caleb was so excited - we had been looking at the blog and talking all day about meeting baby juliet. looking at the blog, he thought juliet was carly, which is understandable, they both look like a baby. once he accepted that the baby was in fact, juliet, he announced, "she's dirty" to the picture of her before she got cleaned up. he's so funny! here he is meeting juliet - he still had a little trouble understanding that she wasn't carly. and then a sweet one of mommy & baby.

and the one we've been waiting for... their first picture together! this is what 1 month and 20 minutes will do for you! and you'll see carly is already trying to hold juliet's hand - such a little girl. welcome to the world juliet, we can't wait to watch you grow!

disclaimer - i stole all these pics from bird's blog - thanks

1 month stats

We took carl for her 1 month check-up today. she was actually 1 month yesterday - by the way, she and juliet are 1 month and 20 minutes apart. we saw the nurse practitioner who was happy with her overall. she is doing great! we got some pics of her this time... having her head measured, being weighed, and then just hanging out, waiting patiently with her eyes open. we did ask about her smiles - we've been getting smiles, but not sure if they are in response to us, or gas - the np said they are probably are in response to us - yay, but she still has gas and shows it off sometimes!
stats:
head cir: 36.8 - 44%
weight: 9lbs, 3 oz - 68%
height: 21 in - 47%
very average little girl - way to go carly!

baby juliet is here!

juliet hope arrived this afternoon at 2:33. she was 6lbs 9oz and 19.5 inches long. thank you bird for the updates, and the pics i stole from your blog! her mommy is my friend tara, and we decided juliet and carly would be best friends. they are exactly 1 month apart. welcome to the world, juliet, we can't to meet you! fun info... as i'm writing this, caleb has turned into the kissing monster, i'm being attacked with kisses, aaahhh!

carly at small group

here's a few pics of carly at small group last week. we had a "fun" night and carly got to be passed around. we caught her holding her bottle, but she had put her hands down by the time the camera got to her. and i can't leave out a good "eyes open" shot. and then, snoozing almost upside down on teagan's lap - how cute is that :)

backyard fun

so, here's caleb, playing in the backyard with nathan, while carly and i went to small group. they are playing baseball, kinda. caleb wanted to play with nana and jace - a couple weeks ago, nana (my mom) took caleb to jace's (my nephew) baseball game. he settled for just playing with daddy - looks like that was just as fun. don't you just love his tough face, with his tough shirt!

happy mother's day!

so, caleb made me this little flower pot of him at school last week, and carly let me sleep 6 hours saturday night. thank you, little girl! however, on mother's day, she fussed the whole time caleb was asleep - so no nap for me. oh, well, i did get a biscuit in the morning and brusters after dinner. oh, and a pretty good shot of carly with her eyes open.

over the weekend

nathan got the attachment put on the stroller - the one that holds the car seat, and snacks for caleb. caleb helped us test it out, and then wanted to sit in it and watch tv and finish his goldfish. we are 3 weeks down and 3 to go before we can get back to stroller striding. later, we caught carly blowing bubbles. we just looked over and she had accumulated a good stash of them on her mouth. then my brother and his crew came by for a little bit. caleb and jace took a break from the maddness, aka - playing, and hung out in the big boy bed. not to worry, the maddness resumed shortly after :)

she sleeps!

so last night, she went just shy of 7 hours in between feedings! it was her firsy night in her own bed. and caleb slept all night too. nathan did have to get up with her for about 30 minutes, but for just being here for 3 weeks - that's incredible! lets hope she keeps it up...

caleb IS a big brother....

so, after a little pumping last night, daddy and big brother got to feed carly, and don't you know it, caleb wanted to give her the bottle. and with a little help from dad....
