So the big boy bed is going well, but we have learned that at nap time, independence is needed. If we tell him to go take a nap and try to put him down, he fights the whole time, but.. if we remind him that it is almost nap time, he will go put himself down (within about 10min) - and that makes life easier. He gets a little control and he gets a nap - we all win! This is how i have foud him the past 2 days after he has done the job of putting himself down.... but at least he's in the bed, right!

THE trip to the OB Doctor, will the baby comply and we find out the sex today?
Here is a 3D pic of the baby. The head starts from the top with the eyes and nose and mouth on the left side up against the side. The baby likes to snuggle already! The pictures will become more defined later in pregnancy.
This is a photo of the baby's face, it is 2D and that is the reason for the "skeletal" look. The head is going from right to left, the top of the head is on the right, and the chin is on the left.

Happy Halloween
so, on halloween we set out to see the grandparents and the great grandparents too. i took our costume with us because when asked if he wanted to put on tigger, the answer was "no." so off we went with our 'under the costume clothes.' grandad shared a snickers with me and here are my cousins, iron man (jace) and little g.i. (gavin).
over all, it was a very successful first time trick-or-treating
But, once we got to the crass's for our annual small group halloween party on the driveway, we went inside for a diaper change and instead of asking, we just dressed him in tigger..... stinkin cute, huh!
these next great pics are thanks to our good friend tracy who went on the trick-or-treating adventure with us and got some good shots for us. here is caleb before the trick-or-treating, just running up and down the sidewalk. the little sock hopper in the back of the pic is kate. it's at her house that we have small group and had the annual halloween party in the drive way. for more pics of the party, you can visit tracy's blog at http://tracyandmark.blogspot.com/
so, here we go.... we had a hard time understanding all the rules associated with trick-or-treating. he understood saying trick-or-treat and getting candy, but didn't want to hold his pumkin candy holder at the same time. i guess it was so much fun, he decided to just walk right in this neighbor's house......and he got a sucker very early on and didn't understand that waiting to eat it stuff, so he snacked on a green apple dum-dum for the evening, which got knocked out of his hand at one point by a herd of stampeeding school-aged kids. although this was pretty traumatic, nathan fixed it by licking off the dirt - thanks for saving the night, dad!

The Pumpkin Patch - Oakes Farm in Corryton
He was super excited about the tractor that pulled us to the pumpkin patch and ended up being more interested in running through the patch announcing "a pumpkin" "another pumpkin" than actually picking a pumpkin. But we picked one and Nathan carved Tigger on it, which is also what Caleb was for halloween.... stay tuned for that.
Some Random Stuff...
He is eating one of Teagan's super halloweeny cake bites - it looks like a pumpkin. He was this excited about it the whole time he ate it. This is my cousin John and his new wife Lindsay. This is the wedding we went to in Portland, OR in August. We had a great relaxing time (without Caleb) except for me starting the pregnant sickness on the trip out there. Despite that, we had a great time with our family. Here's the girls who were there L-R: aunt Janet, cousin Kayla (sis of groom), aunt Karen (mom of groom), me, Carla (my mom) This is just too funny not to share. Nathan broke out his swimming goggles with the intention of doing laps at the gym. The goggles haven't made it to the gym yet, but Caleb found them and had to try them on. He spent a good half hour running back and forth from the bedroom (nathan) and the living room (me) showing us the googles, as if they were new each time!

Night 2 in the big boy bed
So, Nana put him to bed tonight while we were at small group, and it appears he was able to stay IN the bed. Way to go caleb!
First nap in the big boy bed....
Okay, this may even be better.... i put caleb down for his nap, tucked his little feet, in his blanket and left the room. i heard his closet doors open and close and then he was pretty quiet. I peeked in about 20min after he went down and this is what i found....
He found these sunglasses and even re-tucked his feet in (i know he was out of the bed, i could hear him) - pretty clever little boy, huh!
Almost in the big boy bed!
So, for about a week, we've had caleb's big boy bed in his room. We have been letting him play in it during the day and reading to him in it at bedtime, but he was still sleeping in his crib - the point was to get him to ask to sleep in it, for it to be his idea. Well last night, nathan came out of his room and told me that he asked to sleep in his big boy bed and was in it... about an hour and a half later we decided to peek in at him. Anticipating the sense of pride that would overwhelm me when i saw him sleeping like a big boy, i was a little surprised and cracked up to find....
I snapped the pic and nathan put him back in the bed, where he slept all night! Big boy bed down, big boy potty to go...
